For Somaliland, a dawn for full Justice is on its Horizon.

Part one

Will Somalilanders embrace it with Islamic Sharia and transcend?  ''As you sow, so shall you reap''

Somaliland has by and large wrap up an optimum 20 years of Peace, Security and Stability that born out of its people’s resoluteness, wisdom and unyielding principles towards a genuine reconciliation through a sundry of traditional/modern Peace-Making in a methodical manner in a less manipulative atmosphere that is home, accessible, and with multitude small scale talks running parallel along the major one to settle particular issue, disputes or grievances, unlike the 14 foreign driven so called Peace conferences held for Southern Somalia.

All relevant hot bottom issues were hammered out, through heated discussion, reasonable compromise and genuine negotiations that resulted fruitful reconciliations, and a resolutions ultimately pledged by all. Albeit, Somaliland is unrecognized by world community to this day, unemployment skyrocketing, widespread corruption persisted particularly in the reign of last administrations and poverty remains stubborn as ever, nevertheless, Somaliland was on the move and on the right track in succession since then.

To reflect the past in a moment to let you ponder a bit about the major hurdles so far covered.

All the major reconciliation conference in Somaliland, that took place in its early restructuring period in Berbera, Burao, Sheikh, Borame, Erigabo and ultimately in Hargeisa, pursued unflaggingly one thing and one thing only – How to find, ways and means to create peaceful atmosphere for the nation and how to keep guarding the outcome of it, on a regular basis, an outcome that marked as result, Peace, Security, and Stability. And to this day, the affect of adhering to the resolutions reached at these meetings remain boisterously intact as if it were etched on a stone.

Apparently for one reason, overwhelming majority of Somaliland elite, be it intellectuals, Ullemma, community leaders or its wise elders and business community, whether in diasporas or in the country, fully understand that the foundation to build upon a sound nation, to sustain its continuation of upward mobility and build up, is to have a genuine Peace, Security and Stability accorded to all its people and not to alienate any part of it since May 18, 1991.

Constitutional Referendum followed on May 31, 2001, legalized political party pursued by the same year. Free and fair Presidential elections were held in 2003. On 29 September 2005 first Parliamentary election were held under the new constitution and yet again another free and fair Presidential elections followed on June 26, 2010 in which the challenger replaced the incumbent in sedate manner. We thank President Dahir for setting the record straight, and we appreciate much of accredit for a smooth transfer of power that goes to him.

Somalilanders, for this long span of 20 years, were unrelenting in regard of safeguarding and nurturing their peace, security and stability under numerous difficult circumstances, including very tough ones such as those encountered after the liberation from the brutal dictator, in mid nineties when its major urban centers bogged down by unexpected internal fresh blazing clash in which, it came through vigorously, nevertheless the current underway SSC fiasco remain to be seen where it end up. I believe it is no different than previous hurdles; Somaliland emerged out of it triumphantly and peacefully Insha’Allah.

As Somali axiom put it, “Wixii Rag u kaco Rabbina Aqbalo waa Rumoobaan” (Whatever men standup for and Allah (swt) endorse it; turn out to be a vivid reality). Women too, in this instance.

Hence, one can argue at present time, that Somalilanders has matured and garnered enough confidence, experiences and capabilities to painstakingly withstand or else thwart any threatening scenario to their peace, security, and stability even if it seems insurmountable from the outset at the beginning- be it for example an internal rift perpetuated in its futile attempts to stay in power by an ill-advised government wrong moves or external intense pressure with ulterior motives being brought about by international bodies be it foreign governments or organizations, as the case of the so called INTERPEACE and its murky and bogus involvement it had with the former resigned NEC(national election committee), the election itself, and its registration process, and how it want to use a precious data to its own evilness purpose, and if it were allowed to continue its malicious involvement, smooth transfer of power would have been very difficult to attain in the country in my opinion. Luckily the government of President Dahir purges them in time and neutralizes their would-be a devastating plunder of untold consequences.

However, withstanding or thwarting external undesirable influences is not the only business of the day for Somaliland, but also to attract and accommodate foreign governments, international organizations or well known humanitarian figures and scholars, the likes of Professor Ali Mazrui, whose goals and initiatives is to help the discourse and easing tensions in the international square in an unambiguous way.

ICG (International Crisis Group) who remarkably excel in their capacity of enlightening and bridge building among communities of nations, is one of those well liked and well respected International organizations in Somaliland. HRW (Human Right Watch) is also in the same categories and much appreciated; Africa Watch is hard to forget just to mention few.

In other words, the driving force of substantial change in Somaliland for better and brighter future, and to differentiate things and put each one in its proper perspective, look no further other than its brave, inspiring and praiseworthy people who vigilantly watch closely where over all headings of the country is directing, and what headways has accomplished thus far, as wells as the setbacks needed to be aware of and to tackle. How far the contribution across-the-board locally and from the Diaspora in its varied forms went as well, when it comes nurturing this giant undertaking rather then being passive accomplices to its demise.

Somaliland were under watchful eyes of its people, individually, community wise or through numerous organizations that were in place either in the Diaspora such as Somaliland Forum or in the country, like the Somaliland Academy for Peace and Dialogue. Indeed Somalilanders were willing to make the sacrifices thus far.

So where does this righteous, steady trajectory, molded with their ingenious, and moral excellence should go from here then? As you sow, so shall you reap!
