A short response to Osman Hassan (Osman Badawi) re: His campaign against Somaliland

''Therefore, never literally be the Badawi and it is not too late yet for you to reconcile with the people of Somaliland who need you both in the matters of the north (Somaliland) and the South (Somalia)''. Arrale.

-  Mr Osman you seem to have acquired abhorrence syndrome, over the years, towards your homeland – Somaliland. The same place that some seventy years ago, as a young helpless child, had given you, without prejudice, the opportunity that had shaped your life to present day. By your age, many wonder why Osman Hassan’s articles incite odium and bear antipathy towards the existence of Somaliland.

There is no simply answer that one can find for your irksome and puny pen campaign against Somaliland. But I would say that your claim for saving Somalia’s unity by fostering a rebellion group in Somaliland and naming them Khaatumo ‘the descendants of the Darwiish (the fighters against the British)’ is just a wrong calculation and a muffing of any possible means of discussion or settlement that could take place between the north (Somaliland) and the south of Somalia – the two entities in 1960.

In reality your approach of using division before the addition to find one answer for a problem (Unity) only works in mathematics (BODMAS) but not in politics- it is not politically correct or even feasible to divide the North (Somaliland) into two or three conflicting areas and then adding it to the South in the name of saving the unity of Somalia. I can simply tell you that your formula to remedy the situation and save the unity of Somalia is waste of time for all and in your way that’s all water under the bridge.

However, this route is much closer than your infinite working: Unite the North then the South and eventually reconcile the two.

As a regular reader of your articles, I can understand from this article ‘’ How TFG, BBC, VOA and Mahiga sustain Somaliland’s Claims’’ posted in Wardheerd on 3/5/20122, that you reached now the cul-de-sac of your months or years long campaign to impede the initiatives of Somaliland recognition and I reckon if anyone else left, as a last straw, to criticise not doing enough to hinder the up-coming dialogue between Somaliland and the TFG or similar entity in Mogadishu would be The professor – Prof. Ali Khaliif Galaydh whom I believe that he is only shaking the tree for power compromise in Somaliland.

Therefore, never literally be the Badawi and it is not too late yet for you to reconcile with the people of Somaliland who need you both in the matters of the north (Somaliland) and the South (Somalia). Come on home and join your people your experience and your wisdom are needed in your homeland – ‘’Somaliland’’, no denial of Khaatumo’’be assured’’ it is in Somaliland. Plausible conditions for Khaatumo are also negotiable at all times, just present your terms.

I do respect you

Mohamoud Arrale
