TIME FOR LEADERSHIP MR. PRESIDENT

- The political crisis caused by the incompetent and corrupt Registration & Approval Committee (RAC) selected by the government have damaged the reputation of Somaliland. So far the President and his loyalists think the crisis will go away.

They are dead wrong. The RAC announcement of two days ago giving reasons of why 9 out of 15 parties had failed to meet the accreditation criteria was frankly laughable. Nobody will take them seriously.

If they were honest they would have declared the reasons from the first day. Why were they hiding for nearly 2 weeks if they were honest? It is time for leadership Mr. Sylanyo. I suggest two ways which you can resolve this crisis:

1. Dissolve this Registration committee, appoint a decent, competent and fair committee that examines the decisions of the RAC and the entire process and ask them to release a transparent and fair outcome that are convincing enough. They should also be monitored by international observers.

2. Let all the political parties compete in the Municipal elections. Only few will emerge as winners in the end.

Ignoring the constitutional rights of the parties who were wrongly eliminated from the electoral process will only fuel this current crisis and could have serious consequences. They will never stop demanding their rights.

Using corrupt elders who are described as PAY AS YOU GO to say what you want on the TV against political leaders is ridiculous .

The use of force, brutality and imprisonment and intimidation which we only used to see in the ruthless dictatorial regimes will not work.

You and the SNM heroes fought Siyad Barre because of his brutality, corruption and dictatorial behaviour. How can you forget that now?

Don’t allow this to happen in our country because it will undoubtedly lead us to a dangerous path. Take action now and stop this injustice.
